Aizawl: Mizoram Chief Minister Lalduhoma highlighted the vital role of hygiene in defining the state’s character during a ceremony in Thenzawl on June 17. The event marked the handover of a garbage tipper truck donated by the Formosa Foundation to the Joint YMA Thenzawl at the Joint YMA Hall in Bazar Veng.

Addressing the attendees, the Chief Minister noted that the cleanliness of the state frequently draws praise from visitors. He remarked, "Cleanliness and hygiene reflect Mizoram’s identity," and encouraged citizens to maintain this standard to support the reputation of Thenzawl, a growing hub for tourism in the region.

Local MLA Baryl Vanneihsangi also participated in the event, adding that robust waste management is essential for protecting public health and sustaining the town’s appeal to travelers. She suggested that effective local initiatives serve as a model for other communities across the state.

The ceremony was led by Joint YMA Thenzawl President Lalmuanpuia, with contributions from Samuel Lalrinpuia and Formosa Foundation Chairman Jonathan Lalremruata. The donation, facilitated by legal advisor Clinton Sherwood, is intended to bolster local waste disposal efforts and preserve the environment for future visitors.
