Aizawl: Mizoram Chief Minister Lalduhoma has taken direct control of the Personnel and Administrative Reforms Department, according to a government notification released on Friday. The portfolio, previously managed by K. Sapdanga, was reassigned to the Chief Minister in the interest of public service. While Sapdanga remains responsible for the Home, Urban Development, and Poverty Alleviation departments, the shift is intended to address a pressing need for better administrative functioning.
This cabinet change follows claims from opposition leader Lalchhandama Ralte, who suggested the ruling Zoram People’s Movement is suffering from internal fractures. Lalduhoma rejected these accusations entirely, characterizing the narrative as a calculated political tactic. Addressing the alleged discord, the Chief Minister stated that the party faces no such discord and that its legislators remain fully united.
A ZPM insider confirmed that the party high command initiated the move to prioritize reforms within the department. Despite the opposition’s assertions that the party is struggling to maintain its foundation, the government maintains that the leadership change is a routine administrative measure aimed at improving public service delivery.
