Aizawl: Mizoram is gearing up for the Winter Festival 2026. Chief Minister Lalduhoma wants the state branded as the Winter Capital of India. He held a planning meeting at the P&PI Conference Hall on Monday with Tourism Minister Lalnghinglova Hmar and various departmental heads.
Success hinges on teamwork. The government wants every department to find ways to contribute to the festival. Lalduhoma told staff, "We are actively working to establish Mizoram as the ‘Winter Capital of India,’ and our most prominent initiative toward this goal is the Winter Festival. It will serve as an instrument to showcase and boost Mizoram’s entrepreneurship."
The schedule is packed. The Fisheries Department plans an angling event while the Commerce and Industries Department hosts a Bamboo Innovation Exhibition. Information & Public Relations officials will run a photography show. Street decorations and a Christmas Parade will highlight the holiday season. The state government expects this series of cultural and recreational events to provide a major opening for local entrepreneurs.
