Kohima: The District Planning and Development Board of Meluri held its monthly meeting on June 11 at the local courthouse. Chaired by Z Nyusietho Nyuthe, the Advisor for NSDMA and Inland Waterways, the session focused on addressing persistent infrastructure and staffing challenges within the district.
Nyuthe raised alarms regarding the lack of educators in government schools throughout the Pochury area. He urged authorities to take immediate action, stating, "the need to induct additional teachers to address the issue" remains a top priority for the board.
Deputy Commissioner Phuleshe K Yepthomi proposed the formation of a local Red Cross Society to better serve the community. He also issued a call for all government departments to submit their Local Area Development Programme proposals without further delay. Among the administrative business conducted, the board approved a request from Khumiasu village to operate a regional taxi service connecting the village to Dimapur.
The meeting concluded with a presentation by Rangam Nyuwi, the SDO of PHED, who detailed current departmental activities and various development schemes actively being implemented across the Meluri district.
