Shillong: The Meghalaya State Commission for Women has ordered disciplinary action against four former Meghalaya Cricket Association officials. They failed to act on sexual harassment reports from the state’s Under-23 women’s team. The order, signed June 26, demands immediate institutional reforms.

Investigators found complaints landed in the MCA inbox on December 2 and 3, 2025. The association did nothing. The commission noted, "The complaints were received, but no immediate enquiry, no communication to the complainants, and no redressal mechanism was activated."

The MCA did not even have an Internal Committee. This body is mandatory under the POSH Act. Former president Nababrata Bhattacharjee, secretary Rayonald Kharkamni, operations manager Shining Star Lyngdoh, and treasurer Dhrubajyoti Thakuria bear the blame. They ignored their duty. They let a dangerous workplace persist.

The commission previously found coach Hemant Roy and manager Sanjay Mondal guilty of harassment. Six players had reported inappropriate remarks and unwanted digital messages. Now, the current MCA leadership must issue show-cause notices to the four former officials. They must start disciplinary proceedings immediately.

The commission also flagged poor conditions at the team hotel in Nongpoh. Reports surfaced of contraceptives in rooms and suspicious late-night activity. The commission ordered the MCA to stop using the hotel permanently. The association must now form a proper Internal Committee, start anti-harassment training, and file a compliance report within 30 days.
