Shillong: Meghalaya Chief Minister Conrad K. Sangma huddled with top brass from the Indian Army, the National Highways and Infrastructure Development Corporation, and the Public Works Department on Tuesday. They gathered to break the gridlock choking the Rilbong to Barik Point corridor.
The city needs a clear path. Sangma pushed for immediate road widening and smarter traffic management to keep the streets moving. He needs results before the National Games arrive in the state.
Officials focused on long-term infrastructure to stop the daily bottleneck nightmare. Sangma highlighted the need for teamwork to clear the roads. He noted, "Coordinated efforts are key to resolving Shillong’s chronic traffic woes."
This meeting is part of a wider government drive to fix the urban mess before the sporting events start. The state is betting that better roads will move people and goods faster.
