Shillong: Meghalaya Chief Minister Conrad K Sangma met June 23 to fast-track the PM Surya Ghar Scheme. He wants more rooftop solar panels across the state. This move aims to slash the state's reliance on traditional power grids while locking in long-term energy security for residents.

The administration is targeting homes and government buildings. Officials plan to boost public awareness and add battery storage to the mix. It is a major shift. The state wants a greener grid.

Sangma emphasized the bigger picture during the review. He told officials, "Our focus is on building a comprehensive renewable energy roadmap that enhances energy security, promotes sustainability, and ensures long-term benefits for our people."

The PM Surya Ghar Scheme is the engine driving this transition. It pushes households nationwide to ditch old energy habits and plug into clean, rooftop power.
