Meghalaya Promotes Seven Civil Service Officers to Head of Department Roles

Shillong: The Meghalaya government promoted seven Meghalaya Civil Service officers to Head of Department status. The Personnel and Administrative Reforms Department issued the order on August 10. These moves follow Rule 22 of the Meghalaya Civil Service Rules, 1975, and place the staff at Pay Level-21. The Election Commission of India signed off on the upgrades on August 6.

Hepzibah Mabel L Kynta moves from Additional Deputy Commissioner of East Khasi Hills to Joint Secretary and Director of the Programme Implementation and Evaluation Department. Isaac K Marak leaves the Chief Minister’s Secretariat deputy post to become Joint Secretary there and Registrar of Societies. Evarinia Liza Warjri transitions from Additional DC of East Khasi Hills to Joint Secretary of Health and Family Welfare, acting as CEO of the Meghalaya Health Insurance Scheme. Alertson Nongbri shifts from East Jaintia Hills to Director and Joint Secretary of Sports and Youth Affairs.

Alexander S Mukhim takes the Joint Secretary post in the Chief Minister’s Secretariat while serving as Director of Housing. Vivera Alicia Hynniewta leaves Eastern West Khasi Hills to work as Joint Secretary for Community and Rural Development and Secretariat Administration. Danida Dehlia Syngai steps up from the Home Department to Joint Secretary for the Home (Police) and Home (Political) wings.

The department order noted, "The promotions, cleared by the Election Commission on August 6, take effect from the date each officer assumes charge of their new post." Additionally, Kynta, Warjri, Nongbri, and Hynniewta will keep their roles as Electoral Registration Officers in their districts for the time being.
