Meghalaya Promotes Two Senior Civil Service Officers

Shillong: The Meghalaya government elevated senior Meghalaya Civil Service officers Kumbamut Lang Nongbri and Camelia Doreen Lyngwa to the Special Secretary grade. Isawanda Laloo, Secretary of the Personnel and Administrative Reforms Department, issued the notification on July 29.

These promotions fall under Level 22 of the 2018 Revised Pay Structure. They follow Rule 22A of the Meghalaya Civil Service Rules, 2026. The new roles begin once the officers assume charge.

Nongbri takes on the role of Special Secretary for the Information Technology and Communication and Transport departments. He keeps his existing duties as Director of IT and Communication, Managing Director of the Meghalaya Transport Corporation, and State Protocol Officer.

Lyngwa steps into the role of Special Secretary for the Arts and Culture Department. She maintains her current position as Director of the Arts and Culture department. The government order notes the shift in rank, stating the promotions were "made in accordance with Rule 22A of the Meghalaya Civil Service Rules, 2026."
