Shillong: Meghalaya is turning the S.R.G.T. Parking Lot in Polo into a massive sports hub. The government will open the Chief Minister's Football Fan-Park on June 26 for the 2026 FIFA World Cup. Fans get in for free.

Big screens will broadcast the action. Matches hitting the screen will include those kicking off at 9.30 pm, 10.30 pm, and 12.30 am. Officials want to build a shared space for the state's diehard football community.

The venue does more than show games. Artistes from the Chief Minister's Meghalaya Grassroots Music Programme will perform on match days. The project aims to boost the local sporting ecosystem. This effort aligns with the state's push to build what the government claims will be the country's largest football stadium at Mawkhnau.
