Shillong: Election officials in Meghalaya are moving forward with preparations for the 2026 electoral roll revision. Personnel across the Garo Hills recently attended training sessions to ensure the upcoming voter database remains accurate and reliable.

A training program took place on Thursday in Tikrikilla for Booth Level Officers serving the Raksamgre and Tikrikilla assembly constituencies. During the event, Additional Deputy Commissioner Pearla D. Sangma emphasized the necessity of precise data gathering. She told participants that "accurate information collected from the field would be crucial to ensuring a reliable voter database."

These officers will conduct door-to-door verification within their respective constituencies from June 30 to July 29. A similar orientation occurred on Wednesday in the South West Garo Hills, where the District Election Officer briefed supervisors and enumerators from the Ampati, Mahendraganj, and Salmanpara segments.

The training sessions covered validation methods and procedural standards required for the revision, which uses October 1, 2026, as the qualifying date. Officials instructed staff to thoroughly examine every entry during the verification phase to minimize errors and maintain the integrity of the voter list.
