Assam Rifles Seize Rs 27 Crore in Narcotics, Arrest Six

Guwahati: Security forces pulled in a massive haul near the Barak River. A joint team consisting of the 39 Assam Rifles, the 20 Battalion CRPF, and the Borobekra Police Station intercepted six suspected traffickers. The operation hit the Tipidor and Choudhurykhal villages on August 20 after officials tracked reports of suspicious movement in the area.

Troops spotted a local boat near Tipidor village. They detained all six occupants immediately. The search turned up roughly 9.412 kilograms of WY tablets and 177 grams of Heroin No. 4 powder. The total street value of the bust sits at approximately Rs 27 crore.

Authorities identified the detainees as Elbethel Lungtau, Pana Hmar, Denthar Hmar, Laltiunglien Hmar, Lal Ramthar Hmar, and Thowna Hmar. Officials confirmed the outcome of the raid, noting, "The arrested persons have been identified as Elbethel Lungtau, Pana Hmar, Denthar Hmar, Laltiunglien Hmar, Lal Ramthar Hmar and Thowna Hmar." Police now hold the suspects and the seized contraband while they work through the legal proceedings.
