Meghalaya ECD Mission Wins National Gold Award

Shillong: Meghalaya brought home the Gold SKOCH Award this week. The state received the honor at the 108th SKOCH Summit in New Delhi. Judges selected the mission for its role in child development policy.

Officials spent months proving the model works. The national evaluation started back in March. It included heavy documentation reviews, impact checks, and public voting. The project earned its keep.

The Department of Social Welfare spearheaded the effort. They linked health, education, and rural development teams to make it happen. They also pulled in faith-based groups and local community leaders. It is a massive team sport.

The mission targets better nutrition and early learning for kids. It pushes for responsive caregiving and community ownership. The jury specifically praised the Music and Movement Programme. The SKOCH jury highlighted several innovative interventions, including the "integration of ECD activities within SHGs, engagement with faith-based organisations, the Music and Movement Programme, and a strong emphasis on Gender Equality and Social Inclusion."

Meghalaya now stands as a leader in social development. The state beat out competitors across India. It proved that working together gets results.
