Meghalaya Donates Rs 1 Crore to Assam Flood Relief

Guwahati: Meghalaya handed over Rs 1 crore to Assam to help pay for flood relief. Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma confirmed the donation on August 4. The money came directly from the Meghalaya Chief Minister’s Relief Fund to support rehabilitation in flooded districts.

Sarma thanked Meghalaya Chief Minister Conrad K. Sangma for the help. The gift shows the bond between the two states. During the announcement, Sarma said, "Today, the Chief Minister's Relief Fund received a contribution of Rs 1 crore from the Meghalaya Chief Minister's Relief Fund. On behalf of the people of Assam, I convey my sincere gratitude to Hon'ble Chief Minister Shri Conrad K. Sangma Ji and the people of Meghalaya for standing with us in this challenging time."

Assam continues to battle widespread damage. The state government is currently juggling relief work while taking aid from various organizations and neighboring partners. Sarma noted that the donation highlights the spirit of unity in the Northeast. He stated that the act reflects the enduring solidarity that binds sister states together during crises.
