Meghalaya CM Pushes Electric Vehicles for Daily Shillong Commute

Shillong: Chief Minister Conrad K. Sangma is pushing Meghalaya residents to swap gas guzzlers for electric vehicles. He says they are the smartest way to get around town. Sangma uses one himself to navigate Shillong.

He claims a single charge handles his daily travel needs across the city. Many people worry about finding a plug, but he says they have it wrong. "EVs can be charged at home just like a mobile phone," Sangma noted.

The switch saves cash. EVs cost less to run than cars that burn fossil fuels. Beyond the wallet, he argues the move helps clear the air and cut down on nasty emissions. He views the shift to electric power as a down payment on a cleaner future for the state.
