Shillong: Meghalaya Chief Minister Conrad K. Sangma opened the Meghalaya Teacher Training Academy on July 2. He wants to move past simple brick-and-mortar projects. The new academy will link to regional training institutes to fix deep gaps in teacher skills.

Sangma said, "This is not merely about infrastructure; it is about creating a system that will strengthen the foundation of education in Meghalaya." The government also revamped pay for over 23,000 SSA teachers. This cost the state nearly 800 crore rupees annually.

The Chief Minister also launched the She Thrives initiative. The program brings sanitary pad vending machines, new toilets, and clean water to schools. It aims to support the health and dignity of female students across the state. Sangma says the goal is building confidence in girls.

At Pine Mount School, the CM opened a new boarding house. He built it after students complained about old hostel conditions in 2022. During the event, he warned that government jobs are limited. He told students to look toward entrepreneurship. They must learn to build businesses.

Education Minister Lahkmen Rymbui praised the work since 2018. He said the state is headed in the right direction. Sangma told the students to keep working hard and remain persistent.
