A recent survey by Whispers in the Corridors tracks the digital pull of every chief minister. Sangma draws a combined audience of about 847,500 followers. His fans stay spread out across X, Instagram, and Facebook.
Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath dominates the national leaderboard. He claims 63.3 million followers. Tamil Nadu’s C. Joseph Vijay follows with 32.4 million. Maharashtra’s Devendra Fadnavis, Uttarakhand’s Pushkar Singh Dhami, and Assam’s Himanta Biswa Sarma complete the top five. The survey measured success based on daily posting frequency, engagement levels, likes, and the geographic origins of followers.
In the Northeast, Sarma holds the top spot. Sangma takes second. Other regional leaders show varied digital traction. Arunachal Pradesh CM Pema Khandu has 814,000 followers. Tripura’s Manik Saha follows with 535,900. Sikkim’s Prem Singh Tamang holds 217,100, while Mizoram’s Lalduhoma has 210,000. Manipur Chief Minister Yumnam Khemchand Singh and Nagaland’s Neiphiu Rio trail with 126,100 and 109,800 respectively.
The study highlights how politicians use the web to connect with voters. The report notes, "The survey examined the digital reach of chief ministers nationwide, highlighting the role of social media in political communication and public engagement."
