Meghalaya Audit Office Hosts Tree Planting Event in Motinagar

Shillong: The Office of the Principal Accountant General (Audit) of Meghalaya partnered with the Social Forestry Division on Saturday to host a tree plantation drive at the Audit and Accounts Estate in Motinagar. The event resulted in the planting of roughly 150 saplings throughout the residential campus.

Led by Principal Accountant General Lhunkhothang Hangsing and District Forest Officer H. Lato, the initiative aligns with the national campaign titled “Ek Ped Maa Ke Naam.” Launched by Prime Minister Narendra Modi, the movement encourages citizens to plant trees as a tribute to their mothers.

Organizers described the effort as one that combines environmental conservation with a symbolic honour for the nurturing role of mothers, contributing to a sustainable future for the next generation. Senior staff members, including Dhanlaxmi Chourasia, Rupak Saha, Aquarius Mathew, and Mohammad Ziaul Hoque, participated alongside the estate team to complete the project.
