Imphal: Security forces arrested two men near CMC Hospital in Koirengei on June 1, 2026, after discovering 1.425 kilograms of suspected brown sugar in their possession. The suspects were identified as 40-year-old Purna Bahadur Karke, a Village Defence Force personnel from Kangpokpi district, and 37-year-old Lovingson of Kanglatongbi Santipur. Authorities also seized a Honda Activa scooter during the operation.
In a separate enforcement action on the same day, Manipur Police apprehended four individuals for the illegal sale of liquor across multiple locations in Imphal. The arrested suspects are Diamond Singh, M. Dingku Singh, Lalhaiba, and L. Romesh Singh. Police conducted raids across the city and confiscated a significant quantity of illicit alcohol from the group.
