Guwahati: Filmmaker Rima Das brought her latest work, Not a Hero, to South Korea. The film held its Asian premiere at the 31st Busan International Film Festival within the A Window on Asian Cinema section. Das attended the screening with actors Bhuman Bhargav Das and Sukanya Boruah. Co-producers Fran Borgia and Chippy Babu joined them alongside executive producer and director of photography Aditya Varma.

The story follows a 12-year-old boy sent from his city home to an ancestral village. He meets a distant aunt, bonds with a horse, and explores life without digital distractions. The boy eventually discovers newfound courage. Rima Das spoke on the screening. "It’s always special to bring a film to a new audience and see how they connect with it. It’s lovely to be back in Busan and experience this wonderful festival, its incredible audience, volunteers, and team. I’m happy that Not A Hero is finding its way to audiences in different parts of the world, and grateful to everyone who has been part of this journey," she said.

This marks another step for the film. It first debuted at the Berlin International Film Festival in February 2026. The movie competed in the Generation Kplus section and earned a Crystal Bear Special Mention from the Children's Jury. It recently secured the Best Indie Film Award at the Indian Film Festival of Melbourne 2026. Das is a two-time National Award winner. Her previous work includes Village Rockstars, Bulbul Can Sing, Tora's Husband, and Village Rockstars 2. She has screened her films at over 150 festivals, winning more than 75 awards.

Flying River Films produced the movie in association with Akanga Film Asia and TrainTripper Films. Paris-based MMM Sales manages global distribution.
