Guwahati: Assamese feature film Dipholu played to capacity crowds across the state this past Sunday. The movie hit houseful status in Dhemaji, Lakhimpur, Bihpuria, Biswanath Chariali, Moran, Mangaldoi, Tezpur, and Nagaon. Attendance climbed steadily throughout the opening weekend.
Audiences praised the film for its rural setting, humor, and music. Viewers in Mangaldoi noted the story highlights village life for those who have migrated to cities. One spectator remarked, "Dipholu brings that world back to us, with all its struggles, relationships and everyday realities."
Devoted fans went to great lengths to catch the screening. A group from Kaliabor traveled to Tezpur for the show. They left the theater satisfied, stating that "a compelling story does not need to be complicated."
The soundtrack earned specific attention in Tezpur, where viewers lauded the contributions of singers Zubeen Garg and Gayatri Hazarika. In Nagaon, fans enjoyed the chemistry between veteran actors Arun Hazarika and Purnada Hazarika and newer performers like Rajib Dowari and Jyotishman Bora.
Director Nekib thanked the viewers for the warm reception. "It is especially heartening to hear people talk about the story, the music, the humour and the memories the film brings back," he said. The production company, Borluit Productions, developed the project to serve as a family-friendly film featuring four generations of actors. Producers Jekiv hope positive word of mouth sustains momentum in theaters throughout Assam.
