Imphal: Security forces in Manipur recovered the bodies of six Naga men on Wednesday, ending a nearly 24-hour search operation in the region. The victims had been missing since May 13, when they were allegedly abducted by suspected Kuki militants from Leilon Vaiphei village in the Kangpokpi district.

A coordinated team of 450 personnel from the Manipur Police, the Central Reserve Police Force, and the Assam Rifles led the recovery effort. The mission included the use of sniffer dogs and forensic experts to comb through the terrain. The Manipur Police confirmed the discovery through a social media statement, noting, "After nearly 24 hours of sustained search operations involving around 450 personnel of the Manipur Police, CRPF, and Assam Rifles, assisted by sniffer dogs and forensic expert teams, the mortal remains of six persons were recovered this afternoon."

Officials stated that the victims are believed to be the individuals taken hostage during the May incident. The police have launched an investigation into the deaths and are currently completing all required legal formalities. This discovery follows the recent release of 14 Kuki individuals in the Senapati district, who had been held captive for nearly a month after an ambush that killed three church leaders.
