Manipur Police Chief Conducts Security Review in Kangpokpi

Imphal: Newly appointed Director General of Police Mukesh Singh visited Kangpokpi district on Sunday to evaluate the local law and order situation. This marked his first official trip to the region since taking office, as he seeks to address the persistent security and ethnic challenges currently affecting Manipur.

Singh arrived at the Superintendent of Police office, where he was greeted by members of Kuki-Zo civil society organizations, including the Kuki Inpi Manipur. During the visit, the Kuki Inpi Manipur presented a formal memorandum outlining the community's grievances. The document raised critical points regarding the safety of civilians, the restoration of public trust, and the necessity for the unbiased application of law enforcement.

The police chief held a series of strategy meetings throughout the day. In a session with district police officers, including ADGP Lunsieh Kipgen and SP Rahul Gupta, the group discussed operational readiness and the general security climate. Singh also consulted with the Central Reserve Police Force to improve coordination between state and central security agencies. These talks focused on area domination tactics and long-term efforts to maintain regional stability.

Official representatives stated that the visit "underscored the Manipur Police leadership’s efforts to maintain direct engagement with stakeholders at the grassroots level amid the evolving security situation in the state." The visit finished with a commitment to continued dialogue between law enforcement and local groups, as residents look for a path toward lasting peace in the district.
