Shillong: A Manipur musician, Chongtham Vikram Singh, is dead after a brutal attack in South Delhi. The guitarist and music instructor died Sunday night following a violent assault by a group of men outside his Kilokari home. Singh confronted the group at 11:30 p.m. because they were making excessive noise while drinking near his residence.
The argument escalated quickly. The men swarmed Singh, beating him severely before fleeing the scene. His son, Yaiphaba, rushed him to Holy Family Hospital in Okhla, but he could not be saved. Delhi Police have since registered a case and arrested seven people, including a 15-year-old boy, in connection with the killing.
The Garoland State Movement Committee (GSMC) Pedaldoba regional unit condemned the attack, calling the incident a failure to protect people from the Northeast in the national capital. The group demands the harshest possible punishment for the accused under Section 103(2) and 3(5) of the BNS Act. GSMC leaders stated, "ian a·songni skotong songjinmao salgro salaram jolni manderangko chel·chakna man·gijaniko mesokani ong·a." The committee is now pushing for stricter security protocols for students and workers from the region living in Delhi.
