Imphal: The Manipur Medical Council has issued a formal directive requiring all Registered Medical Practitioners in the state to renew their credentials every five years. Registrar Dr. Sanasam Gopal Singh warned that doctors who fail to renew their status within one year of expiry will be permanently removed from the Council register.
The Council noted that many practitioners have ignored previous reminders to update their status. To resolve the backlog, the organization is offering a one-time grace period. Defaulting doctors have one month from the date of the announcement to renew their registrations by paying the necessary late fees and penalties.
To maintain an active status, practitioners must show proof of at least 30 credit points earned through Continuing Professional Development activities over the previous five years. These include participating in medical seminars, workshops, and educational conferences. The Council stated the measure is intended to ensure that medical practitioners remain professionally updated and continue to meet regulatory requirements for practising medicine in the state. This notification serves as a final opportunity for practitioners with expired registrations to regularise their status before their names are struck off the official register maintained by the Manipur Medical Council.
