Manipur Launches Massive Archival Effort to Recover Lost Government Gazettes

Imphal: Manipur is hunting down 881 lost administrative gazettes. The government launched a restoration project to fill holes in the state record. Director of Printing and Stationery Ng. Roben Singh confirmed on Friday that 124 documents are already back in hand. The state pulled 116 of these from the National Archives and gathered eight from local sources. Workers reconstructed another 41 records to complete the set.

The Directorate is building an AI-powered search tool with the National Institute of Electronics and Information Technology in Manipur. This system will open up these records for public use. The agency also streamlined private requests for legal name changes. Singh told reporters, "The Directorate has become the state's first paperless directorate after fully adopting the eOffice system and digitally signed file workflows."

Digital upgrades are moving fast. The department now runs on eGazette Manipur for online record access. PrintFlow 360 handles all printing tasks with live tracking. Biometric scanners now monitor staff attendance to tighten up office discipline. These moves mirror the national Digital India and Viksit Bharat goals. They want more transparency and better access to state services.
