Imphal: Manipur Chief Minister Yumnam Khemchand Singh launched the state's first Digital Governance, Artificial Intelligence, Cyber Security and Skilling Workshop this week. The event took place at the Civil Secretariat in Mantripukhri on Tuesday, August 4, following announcements made by the Chief Minister on Wednesday, August 5. The Department of Information Technology organized the sessions in partnership with Microsoft India.
The initiative aims to build a tech-ready Manipur. Officials want to improve government service delivery through digital transformation. The Chief Minister expects this work to spark innovation in agriculture, healthcare, education, tourism, and digital services. Microsoft will lead training to give youth, government staff, and entrepreneurs the tools they need to master AI and cybersecurity.
"Our goal is to create a secure, citizen-centric and inclusive digital ecosystem where every citizen, irrespective of location, has access to efficient, transparent and reliable government services," Singh said. The state plans to use these new skills to drive employment and local entrepreneurship.
Privacy remains a core concern. Singh promised that protecting citizen data stays a top priority as the state adopts new technology. Additional Chief Secretary, administrative secretaries, senior IT officials, and representatives from Microsoft India attended the inaugural session. Singh urged all departments and industry stakeholders to collaborate on building a resilient and digitally empowered future.
