Imphal: Manipur Chief Minister Yumnam Khemchand Singh inaugurated the first State-Level Digital Governance, AI, Cyber Security and Skilling Workshop. The event took place at the Civil Secretariat in Mantripukhri, Imphal. The state’s Department of Information Technology organized the workshop in collaboration with Microsoft India.

The initiative aims to build a future-ready, inclusive, and digitally empowered Manipur. The government plans to use this partnership to sharpen public service delivery, boost youth job prospects, and encourage innovation in agriculture, healthcare, education, tourism, and digital services. Officials intend to train entrepreneurs, government employees, and young people in artificial intelligence and cybersecurity.

"Our goal is to create a secure, citizen-centric and inclusive digital ecosystem where every citizen, irrespective of location, has access to efficient, transparent and reliable government services," Singh said.

The government plans to sign a Memorandum of Understanding with Microsoft to solidify this collaborative framework. IT Secretary Somorjit Salam noted the deal will focus on capacity building and exploring innovative governance. The project also prioritizes adding digital support for the Manipuri language to improve accessibility.

Keshri Asthana, Chief Technology Officer at Microsoft India, committed to supporting the state with secure cloud infrastructure and robust data frameworks. Other notable attendees included Additional Chief Secretary Vivek Kumar Dewangan, administrative secretaries, and various industry representatives. Throughout the rollout, Singh emphasized that protecting citizen privacy remains the top priority for the state government.
