Imphal: Aspirants for 907 Group C and Group D positions at the Manipur State Power Distribution Company Limited and the Manipur State Power Company Limited are fighting back. The Joint Action Committee of the All Manipur MSPDCL and MSPCL Exam Completed Candidates, 2019, declared a 24-hour statewide general strike. It kicks off at midnight on July 31.
Candidates have waited seven years for results. They sat for the recruitment exams back in 2019. Now, they are finished with quiet protests. Yumkhaibam Manoj, a member of the committee, stated that the candidates have exhausted all democratic means to seek justice but have received no response from the government. Officials have ignored repeated memorandums and blocked multiple requests for meetings with the Chief Minister.
The group demands the government scrap the existing cancellation order and release the exam results immediately. Many applicants are now too old for other government jobs due to the massive delay. Recent attempts to march to the Chief Minister’s Secretariat ended in a total blackout of communication. The committee warned that this strike is merely the first step of a larger movement if their demands go unmet.
