Imphal: Frustrated job seekers are shutting down Manipur. The Joint Action Committee of the All Manipur MSPDCL and MSPCL Exam Completed Candidates, 2019, will trigger a 24-hour statewide bandh starting at midnight on August 4. They are fighting for results tied to 907 Group C and Group D positions that have sat in limbo for seven years.
Government silence pushed the group to this extreme. They previously sent memorandums to leaders and tried to meet the Chief Minister, but officials ignored every attempt at dialogue. Recently, police blocked them from marching to the Chief Minister's Secretariat to submit formal demands. JAC member Yumkhaibam Manoj told reporters that the candidates had exhausted all democratic means to seek redress.
The committee demands that authorities reverse the cancellation order issued under President's Rule rather than scrapping the entire process. The delay has cost many aspirants their livelihoods. Some candidates have even aged out of other government exams while waiting for these results. The JAC insists that releasing the 2019 scores is the only way to fix the mess and restore the careers of those left in uncertainty.
