Manipur Chief Minister Orders NIA Probe Into Killing of Six Naga Villagers

Imphal: Manipur Chief Minister Yumnam Khemchand Singh has condemned the abduction and murder of six Naga villagers from Kangpokpi district’s Leilon Vaiphei village. The victims were taken on May 13, marking another tragic escalation of violence in the state.

In a statement released on Thursday, the Chief Minister denounced the killings, calling the event a heinous act and a grave affront to humanity and the rule of law. He offered his condolences to the affected families while pledging that the government would hold those responsible accountable.

The state government has officially entrusted the investigation to the National Investigation Agency. Khemchand Singh confirmed that the state is cooperating fully with the agency to ensure the perpetrators are identified and apprehended.

During the same address, the Chief Minister addressed the separate killing of a farmer in Tamenglong district’s Lansan Kuki village, who was targeted by suspected armed miscreants. He extended his sympathies to that family as well, emphasizing his administration's focus on maintaining order.

The Chief Minister reiterated his commitment to regional security. He stated that the State Government remains steadfast in safeguarding the lives of all citizens, upholding the rule of law, and fostering lasting peace, harmony and stability across Manipur.
