Imphal: The Kuki Inpi Manipur (KIM) has formally accused central security forces of harassing civilians during a recent operation in Leilon Vaiphei and nearby villages in the Kangpokpi district. The apex body claims that officers conducted house-to-house searches and imposed strict movement restrictions on residents, including women, children, and the elderly.

This operation followed a violent incident in the area that left three Kuki-Zo students hospitalized with injuries. KIM alleged that the attack was carried out by members of the NSCN-IM and its alleged proxy, the ZUF-K. The organization criticized the security forces for targeting local villagers who were already victims of violence rather than pursuing the perpetrators of the initial attack. The NSCN-IM AND ZUF-K, however, have summarily rejected the accusations.

The group has demanded that the central government ensure security measures are handled fairly and do not result in civilian mistreatment. In a statement, the organization asserted that "security measures do not result in the harassment of civilians" and called for justice for the injured students. KIM continues to push for a consistent application of the law across all communities in the region.
