Shillong: The Khasi Students' Union is losing patience. The group warned the Meghalaya government on Wednesday that it will take its own lawful action if officials continue to drag their feet on border security. Union leaders met with Chief Minister Conrad K. Sangma to demand the immediate enforcement of the Inner Line Permit and the Meghalaya Residents Safety and Security Act.

KSU president Raymond Kharjana made the group's stance clear after the meeting. He stated, "The introduction of the ILP remains the organisation's highest priority." The union handed the Chief Minister a 20-point list of demands to protect local communities.

Sangma told the delegation the state's ILP request sits with the Union government in Delhi. He promised to keep pushing for it. However, the KSU wants more than just talk. They want the government to finish building entry and exit checkpoints to track who enters the state.

The union also blasted the state for leaving parts of the safety act untouched for eight years. Kharjana rejected plans to turn existing monitoring centers into food courts. He insisted these sites must remain focused on security. The union also wants tighter verification rules for migrant workers. KSU leaders claim they have heard enough promises. They are now prepared to explore other legal paths if the state continues to fail them.
