Kohima: Cancer survivors, their families, caregivers, and healthcare experts gathered at Hotel Vivor in Kohima to mark the 3rd annual Cancer Survivors Day. The event focused on the shared commitment of these groups to reduce the impact of the disease through mutual support and community connection.
Dr. Keduovinuo Keditsu Chielie, a cancer surgeon and trustee of the Dr. K&T Keditsu Foundation, noted the progress made in the state since the fellowship began. She said, "Padma Shree Neidonuo Angami has initiated Cancer Survivors Fellowship in Nagaland in 2022 for sharing experiences and supporting each other."
The event featured personal testimonials of hope and resilience from survivors Seyiekobei Rutsa, Khanai Rova, and Neisanyii Vihienuo. Bokali Haralu also provided insight into the critical role of caregivers. The program included a thanksgiving mass prayer, worship led by Khrieselhou Bos Metha, and a musical performance by the Truism group.
Organized by the Dr. K&T Keditsu Foundation in partnership with the Rev. Moa Longchari Cancer Foundation, the event received support from Putuonuo Hospital, The Speciality Pharma, and various local donors. The global observance, traditionally held on the first Sunday of June, concluded with closing remarks from Temjen Longkumer.
