Kiphire Seniors Receive Free Assistive Devices

Kohima: Seniors in Kiphire received new mobility gear on Tuesday. The Artificial Limbs Manufacturing Corporation of India held a distribution event at Hopongku Memorial Hall to get tools into the hands of those who need them most.

Local officials and the Social Welfare Department joined forces with the District Administration to host the day. Takatemjen Pongen, the Extra Assistant Commissioner, told the crowd that the government is working hard to improve local support. He noted that the government is "strengthening welfare programmes, improving accessibility and expanding support systems for vulnerable groups."

The event focused on giving out hearing aids, walking sticks, and wheelchairs with buckets. Residents from Kiphire Village and Kiphire Town showed up to collect the equipment. Pongen thanked the technical team from ALIMCO for reaching out to such a remote district. Public leaders, village heads, and departmental staff stood by as the kits were handed out.
