Katta Beel Tourist Centre Handed Over to Local Cooperative

Shillong: South West Garo Hills officials handed over the Katta Beel Tourist Facilitation Centre to the Katta Beel Fishery Cooperative Society (KBFCS) on Wednesday. The facility operates under the central government's Swadesh Darshan Scheme. It aims to boost tourism in the region.

Mahendraganj MLA Sanjay A Sangma led the handover ceremony at the site. He presented the keys and certificate to society members. The project relies on local involvement to succeed. Sangma told the crowd, "Ia Tourism Facilitation Centre-ko name chalaichina aro name nirokchina KBFCS-ni member-rangko didiangaha."

Local leaders attended the event. Deputy Commissioner Anendya Raajsshre joined Zikzak Block Development Officer Torali K Marak and District Tourist Officer Collin Jeffrey Ch Marak for the proceedings. They stressed the importance of maintaining the site to protect the area's natural assets.

The Deputy Commissioner explained the responsibilities of the community in safeguarding the project. She highlighted how government schemes function to build local infrastructure. The cooperative now holds the responsibility for daily operations.
