Agartala: A court in Kamalpur has sentenced an individual to 140 days of rigorous imprisonment and issued a fine of 2,000 rupees following a conviction for illegal entry. The ruling follows an investigation into Case Number 084/2025, which involved charges under Sections 21 and 24 of the Immigration and Foreigners Act of 2025 and Section 14A of the Foreigners Act of 1946.

The Judicial Magistrate First Class in Kamalpur delivered the verdict after reviewing evidence and hearing arguments from both sides. Officials credited the successful prosecution to the work of Assistant Sub-Inspector Motilal Malakar, who served as the investigating officer for the Kamalpur Police Station. His collection of evidence was cited as a primary factor in securing the conviction.

Both the Tripura Police and the Chief Minister's Office commended the investigation for its professionalism. Local authorities stated that this case demonstrates their firm commitment to prosecuting violations of immigration laws and illegal border entry.
