Guwahati: Chaos erupted at Silchar Airport on July 28. IndiGo flight 6E-6413 to Guwahati sat on the tarmac for hours while passengers waited for answers. Roughly 200 to 250 travelers remained stuck inside the cabin or the terminal with no clear word on the flight status. Anxiety spiked among families and the elderly.
Reports suggest the cancellation followed a last-minute illness involving one of four crew members. Passengers grew frustrated by the silence from airline staff. Many demanded better transparency during operational snags. One traveler noted, "The incident has once again highlighted the need for better passenger communication and adherence to customer service protocols during operational disruptions."
IndiGo eventually scrubbed the flight three hours past its scheduled departure. This sparked immediate protests at the airport. The airline scrambled to move the crowd after the dust settled. They booked urgent travelers on an early morning flight to Guwahati. Others received seats on afternoon services. Despite these moves, travelers blasted the company for poor contingency planning and slow updates.
