Guwahati: Hundreds of devotees gathered in Jalah village, located in Assam's Nagaon district, to participate in a vibrant Bhagavata recitation and discourse program. Organised by Kalpataru Prathamik under the guidance of the Srimanta Sankaradeva Sangha, the event transformed the local Namghar into a hub of spiritual reflection.
The day-long celebration began with the hoisting of a religious flag, followed by a procession and various devotional activities known as Naam-Prasanga. Attendees included a diverse group of men, women, and elderly residents who remained engaged in the festivities from early morning until evening.
A central feature of the gathering was a sermon by religious preacher Jagat Bania, who provided a detailed discourse on the Bhagavata and its spiritual significance. Organisers expressed their satisfaction with the large turnout and the success of the initiative. Members of Kalpataru Prathamik noted that the event serves as a clear sign of the lasting impact of local traditions, stating that the gathering was "a testament to the enduring influence of the teachings of Srimanta Sankaradeva."
