GSU Demands New Investigation Into Year-Old Tura Murder Case

Shillong: The GSU East Zone Williamnagar is calling for a fresh investigation into the murder of a young girl in Samgong. It has been one year since the victim was hacked to death. The group pushed for a Special Investigation Team to take over the case during a meeting with Chief Minister Conrad Sangma on Thursday.

Police in Williamnagar have failed to catch the killer. The union slammed this lack of progress, noting the suspect remains free. A magisterial inquiry finished months ago, but the government sat on the findings. No officials faced consequences for the stalled case. The victim's family still has not received promised compensation or state support.

The union described the ongoing delay as a total failure of justice. They labeled the initial killing as a “gruesome” crime that authorities ignored. The GSU now demands the immediate release of the initial Action Taken Report. They want officials held accountable for their negligence and a new team to finally close the file.
