Kohima: The government officially launched its information and outreach campaign, Jan Bhagidari Abhiyan, in Kohima on May 22. The initiative, themed Sabse Dur, Sabse Pehle, aims to ensure that welfare programs and essential services reach the most remote and inaccessible parts of the state.
Kohima Deputy Commissioner B. Henok Buchem inaugurated the campaign at the local conference hall. He noted that Nagaland's unique geographical terrain and socio-cultural diversity present specific challenges for administration. To overcome these, the campaign prioritizes inclusive governance and focuses on bringing services directly to the grassroots level to ensure no citizen is excluded.
The project encourages active public participation, positioning citizens as stakeholders in the development process rather than passive recipients. Various government departments plan to organize outreach programs, service delivery camps, and community interactions. These efforts are designed to connect eligible beneficiaries with services in a transparent manner while addressing local grievances.
Divisional Forest Officer Dr. Sevono Seletsu spoke at the event, emphasizing the need for better coordination between departments to achieve full coverage of welfare schemes. She highlighted that reaching tribal populations is a central objective of the campaign, noting that Nagaland has a significant number of vulnerable tribal groups. She urged officials to review their implementation strategies to ensure every household receives the intended benefits.
The Deputy Commissioner appealed to community leaders, including representatives from village councils, churches, youth organizations, and women's groups, to assist in the rollout. He called for collective responsibility from all stakeholders to help the administration bridge the gap between government resources and the people living in the furthest reaches of the district.
