Government Demands Official Complaints Regarding E20 Fuel Performance

Shillong: Transport Minister Sniawbhalang Dhar claims his office has received zero official reports about E20 fuel causing mechanical failures. Drivers in Shillong and the Khasi Hills keep grumbling about poor mileage and engine trouble. The government hears the noise but ignores the rumors.

Dhar says the public needs to file formal grievances before the state acts. Officials cannot fix what they have not seen on paper. He argues the fuel remains in a trial phase and it is premature to judge the blend.

“Let us first try it. Since the rate is a little lower, it should be okay for the people,” Dhar said. He serves as Deputy Chief Minister and leads the transport portfolio.

He plans to call a meeting once data arrives through proper channels. The Centre continues to push for ethanol blending to cut down on fossil fuel use and lower emissions. For now, the rollout continues despite the street-level skepticism.
