Shillong: Members of the Gorkha Association, Shillong, gathered at Gorkha Shamshan Ghat in Mawbah this Sunday to put shovels in the dirt. They teamed up with the Gorkha Shamshan Ghat Samity to host a tree planting event. Everyone got to work planting various saplings to help combat rising global temperatures.
The event centered on a specific call to action for the local community. The official theme urged attendees to "Plant Tree, Plant Hope. Think Green, Go Green, Live Green and Let Us Save Our Children’s Tomorrow."
This is not a one-time effort. The association committed to making this a yearly tradition to keep the green initiative moving forward. Organizers hope the event forces citizens to pay closer attention to the threat of global warming.
