Guwahati: Assam Pradesh Congress Committee President Gaurav Gogoi has criticized the state government for its failure to manage the rising cost of fuel and essential goods. Speaking at a meeting at Rajiv Bhawan on Sunday, Gogoi argued that the BJP administration has ignored the economic struggles of everyday citizens despite receiving significant public support in recent elections.

Gogoi directly targeted Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma, claiming the state leadership prioritizes internal power dynamics and cabinet restructuring over public welfare. He accused the government of displaying an anti-people character by remaining inactive while households face mounting financial pressure. Regarding the administration's performance, Gogoi stated, "By not reducing the skyrocketing prices of fuel and essential commodities, the government has failed to meet the hopes of the people."

The Congress party is currently recalibrating its strategy as it prepares for the upcoming Nagaon Lok Sabha constituency bye-election. During the gathering, which included key figures like MP Rakibul Hussain and former opposition leader Debabrata Saikia, Gogoi announced that observers have been deployed to all 126 Assembly constituencies. These representatives will gather feedback to help the party reinvent itself and better align with the concerns of voters moving forward.
