Guwahati: Assam Pradesh Congress Committee president Gaurav Gogoi criticized the BJP-led state government on June 7 for failing to control the rising prices of essential goods and fuel. During a press gathering at Rajiv Bhawan, he argued that the administration has ignored the needs of ordinary citizens even after securing a significant electoral mandate.

Gogoi asserted that the government has "failed to meet the hopes and aspirations of the common people." He characterized the administration as anti-people, claiming that Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma and his cabinet are too distracted by internal power struggles and political maneuvering to address inflation or market instability.

Alongside his critique, Gogoi discussed the party's plans to reorganize following recent election results. He explained that Congress is currently holding review meetings to analyze past setbacks and develop a fresh approach to reconnect with voters. The party has deployed observers across all 126 assembly constituencies to gather feedback and report to the central leadership.

The meeting also addressed upcoming political challenges, specifically preparations for the Nagaon Lok Sabha constituency by-election. Senior party members, including Rakibul Hussain and Debabrata Saikia, attended the discussions to solidify the party's strategy moving forward.
