Guwahati: Gauhati University officials held a live social media session on June 5 to address widespread confusion surrounding the Four-Year Undergraduate Programme and other academic policies. The event aimed to dispel rumors circulating online about the potential discontinuation of courses and departments.

Registrar Utpal Sarma noted that the university identified a rise in misleading claims spread by outside interests. During the session, he stated, "This initiative reflects the University’s firm commitment to counter misinformation and ensure that students receive accurate information directly from official sources."

The university provided clarity on the implementation of the National Education Policy, explaining the nuances between Honours and Honours with Research degrees. Officials also discussed eligibility requirements for research-focused tracks and the future implications for students seeking PhD admissions.

Regarding concerns over academic timelines, administrators confirmed that all pending examination results will be released within 30 days. To improve ongoing communication, the institution plans to launch a dedicated email helpline. Students are encouraged to continue using official social media channels to verify information and avoid the influence of speculative content.
