Guwahati: Fifty youths from the Bodoland Territorial Region have successfully secured placements in the Indian Army under the government’s Agnipath scheme. The achievement was marked by a celebration at Udalguri Higher Secondary School, where candidates received recognition from local community leaders, government officials, and military representatives.
The recruitment milestone follows a coordinated outreach effort involving schools and colleges throughout the region. More than 2,000 students participated in awareness sessions designed to explain the opportunities offered by the Agnipath initiative. Following a pre-recruitment rally in November 2024, 343 aspirants entered specialized training programs, with 234 of those candidates passing the Common Entrance Examination.
After undergoing intensive physical training and mentorship, 119 male candidates qualified for service, and 50 have already received their official joining letters. BTR Deputy Chief Executive Member Rihon Daimari attended the felicitation event to praise the collaboration between the military and local leadership.
He noted that these efforts extend beyond job placement, stating, "Such initiatives not only create employment opportunities but also inspire young people to contribute to national service." Army officials indicated that this success highlights the effectiveness of their ongoing engagement with civil authorities and residents, which also includes sports events and skill-building programs aimed at long-term social development in the area.
