Kohima: The Eastern Nagaland People’s Organisation wants the Nagaland government to act. It is demanding a special session of the Legislative Assembly. The group wants this meeting held without further delay. Its goal is the formal enactment of legislation for the Frontier Nagaland Territorial Authority, or FNTA.
This push follows a cabinet resolution from July 6, 2026. The ENPO wants officials to honor that decision. It remains focused on the Memorandum of Agreement signed in New Delhi on February 5, 2026. The organization believes the state and the Ministry of Home Affairs are closing in on a deal. It stated that consultations under Clause 3.3 of the agreement "have progressed positively and are now in the final stage."
The group noted its past cooperation. It deferred a planned public rally on July 10, 2026. This move came after direct appeals from the state government, the ENLU convenor, and a Rajya Sabha MP. Now, the ENPO expects results. It wants the upcoming Indian Independence Day to reflect the integrity of all parties involved.
The proposed legislation will grant the FNTA authority over transferred subjects. The organization urged both state and central officials to speed up the process. It cited the national vision of Viksit Bharat 2047 as a guiding framework. The group expects the government to work in both letter and spirit to fulfill these promises.
