Shillong: Electoral roll updates are moving fast across East Khasi Hills and the Garo Hills. Officials started the push on June 30. Booth Level Officers are now knocking on doors to collect forms in 898 polling stations across the East Khasi Hills district alone.
So far, workers have handed out over 109,000 forms across 15 Assembly constituencies. Pynursla leads the pack with 14,220 forms sent out. Workers digitised over 3,000 documents already. They must finish this entire task by July 29.
West Garo Hills officials met with political party leaders on Thursday to align on the process. Deputy Commissioner Vibhor Aggarwal chaired the meeting to iron out issues with the 178 Booth Level Agents currently in the field. He asked for help from all sides. He said, "the cooperation of all stakeholders is essential for a successful revision."
South West Garo Hills is also moving. They pushed out 66,439 forms across 168 polling stations by Friday. Officials found two dead voters and one person who moved away. They have received zero complaints so far. The work follows the strict timeline set by the Election Commission of India.
