Election Commission Holds National Media Strategy Conference in Delhi

Kohima: The Election Commission of India hosted a one-day conference for media and communication officials on June 12 at the India International Institute of Democracy and Election Management in Delhi. The event brought together more than 350 Media Nodal Officers and social media representatives from 36 states and Union Territories.

A delegation of 12 officials from Nagaland participated in the training, including representatives from the Department of Information and Public Relations, the Chief Electoral Officer’s office, and the district administration. The group was led by Deputy Chief Electoral Officer Alila Chang.

Chief Election Commissioner Gyanesh Kumar, alongside Election Commissioners Sukhbir Singh Sandhu and Vivek Joshi, led the sessions. The leadership addressed the critical need for accurate information flow during the electoral process. CEC Kumar emphasized the importance of timely, clear, and fact-based communication, while the commissioners focused on the effective dissemination of official guidelines and initiatives.

Participants attended workshops covering media engagement strategies, social media outreach, and methods for tackling misinformation. The conference also served as a space for officials to share best practices from recent elections and discuss constitutional and legal updates. The event wrapped up with an interactive question and answer session chaired by the CEC.
